A brutal Civil War 60 years ago drew the alliances that exist today. The war killed about 2 million Koreans, and separated thousands of families. In 2009, North Korea said its military would no longer be bound by the agreement because South Korea was joining a U.S.- led anti-proliferation plan. North and South Korea are still separated by the 38th parallel and its the most dangerous place in the world because if you try to go to North Korea by the 38th parallel you would get shot right on sight.
